We have an exciting opportunity to join the Warehouse team in a permanent role as a Nights Warehouse First Line Manager, based at our Memory Lane Cakes site in Cardiff, which is part of the Finsbury Food Group.
Our Memory Lane Cakes site is part of our Cake Division within Finsbury Food Group. They make over 75% of the UK’s sharing cakes from retailer own brands cakes, tray bakes through to party cakes like Caterpillar cakes. They employ over 850 people on site and the sites runs 24/7, which encompasses a culture of Teamwork, friendly and respectful leadership, and a focus on Continuous improvement at all levels.

This is what you’ll actually do!
As one of our Warehouse FLMs, you’ll be working as part of the wider Warehouse team on-site. You will manage duties in line with the operation of the warehouse providing a service to production that is in alignment with their production plans. You will monitor the receiving of goods in, ensuring its accurately booked in and in a timely manner, ensuring these are stored correctly and issued to the bakery when and where needed. You will be required to monitor and track against KPI’s for the completion of all loading of pallets onto the distribution network for finished goods and manage customer order picks. You will be required to manage the nightly cycle counts for warehouse stocks including stock rotation.
We are a fast paced, 24/7 operation and you may find yourself working to tight deadlines or managing last minute changes to counts or orders. It is essential that as one of the Warehouse FLMs you have excellent attention to detail, are enthusiastic and have the drive to get the job done. There is an expectation for the FLMs to lead by example to drive excellence and be an ambassador for health and safety through the warehouse and wider business.
As part of your day-to-day you will be required to participate with the following:

Responsible for ensuring compliance with Food Safety, Legality and Quality Systems
Responsible for all aspects of departmental safety.
Lead a team of Warehouse operatives, responsible for the Safe Receipt of goods in, Checks against Quadex. Out-loading of stock, Training, supervising, and appraising all Warehouse staff assigned to your team.
Ensure punctual loading/unloading of vehicles to site and ensure departures of vehicles are within agrees deadlines.
When the stock control manager is not present. Upkeep of stock control across the warehouse, this includes and is not limited to completing cycle counts across all internal areas of the warehouse. Responsible for reconciling all freeze product to ensure M3/3rd Party systems match to reduce company liability.
Check and complete all paperwork for both internal and external use.
Investigate and authorise transactions within the M3 system.
Ensure rotation of stock to limit low code/out of life liability.
Responsible for disciplinary investigations within department.
Managing all departmental KPIs.
Working alongside materials team to control inventory.
Working alongside operations to ensure timely issue of urgent materials from the Hub.
Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Achieving financial budget by controlling expenditure and working within parameters of the set budget.
To work cohesively with the Warehouse management, providing cover as and when required in their absence.
Expectation to operate at Site Leadership Team level, as and when required.

Ideally this is you!

Sound knowledge of logistics/distribution and warehousing process.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Demonstrated Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as M3 or SAP.
Knowledge of Quadex Technical system.
Relevant professional supervisory/management experience (preferably in a warehousing/logistics function)
Strong written/verbal communication skills as there will be a need to participate at SLT level as and when required.
Good problem solving and reasoning skills to effectively deal with problems varying in complexity related to the role.
Experience of dealing with industrial relations issues.
Highly results focussed with a strong attention to detail.
Decisive and effective decision making, with a structured and systematic approach to delivering business solutions.
Must be a strong influencer, able to challenge management and staff where appropriate whilst developing relationships with colleagues and peers.
High levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
IOSH Managing Safely (preferable).
