What are we looking for?
Supports senior colleagues, and works with specifically assigned clients, to place risks with insurers. Negotiates effective terms to ensure client needs are best met in relation to pricing and cover.
What are the key accountabilities?
Planning/Reporting:
Provides input to team meetings to ensure appropriate information is considered, observations from the market are shared and client issues resolved
Plans work activities to achieve Team objectives
Meets agreed targets
Manages assigned projects and contributes to other projects as required
Provides relevant management information to the management team
Technical:
Reviews submissions in conjunction with the account handlers/executives, to ensure that information presented to the market is comprehensive and accurate
Plans the most appropriate solution for the client’s demands and needs.
Devises placing strategies and identifies effective product layering
Negotiates with underwriters to place insurance that balances quality, coverage and price
Reviews wordings and gathers appropriate market intelligence to ensure the company’s product offering is up to date and relevant to current/respective market conditions/requirements
Develops strong relationships with markets
Provides broking guidance and support for more junior members of the Team
Responds to market and third party queries as appropriate
Ensures up to date records are maintained at all times on the Company’s/Group’s systems
Policy, Process and Procedures:
Works within agreed parameters and uses relevant systems to ensure documentation /communications adhere to company procedure / compliance requirements
Maintains appropriate client files
Follows agreed processes and obtains appropriate approvals to ensure compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements
Environment, Customer Focus and Relationships:
Actively manages relationships with external and internal stakeholders
Develops and maintains appropriate underwriter relationships
Maintains an appropriate group of preferred markets in each area of activity
Develops awareness of industry developments to ensure practices, product offerings and outputs are of a sufficiently high standard compared to peers
Responds to the clients'(both internal and external) requirements as appropriate
Behaves with all clients (both internal and external) fairly and ethically
Shares information that could be beneficial to the Operating Entity/Group
What do we need from you?
Experience of working in a similar or related role
Excellent knowledge of the insurance market
Excellent relationships with relevant underwriters
Specific product knowledge
Highly regarded by peers and market contacts
Good understanding of relevant regulatory and legal frameworks
Good understanding of the company’s strategic goals and how broker activity contributes to these
Customer focused approach
Highly numerate and literate
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and use initiative
Able to work flexibly to achieve tight deadlines/targets with good time management skills
Good decision making and analytical skills
Calm and resilient under pressure
Able to positively react to change
Able to build sustainable working relationships
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Strong commercial acumen
GCSE Math’s and English (or equivalent)
A levels (desirable)
Attainment of the LLMIT (the Lloyd’s and London Market Introductory Test), where relevant to the role
Working towards or has attained ACII (desirable not essential)
