As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for the repair and servicing of various types of mechanical plant and industrial machinery
Role and Responsibilities:
-Ascertain job requirements from drawings or other specifications.-Select length of stainless steel, steel alloy, iron, copper, aluminium or plastic piping and to cut it to the required size with hacksaw, pipe cutter or machine.-Prepare and position pipework and flanges for subsequent welding, alignment orientation, gaps, spacing, straightness whilst welding and arc welding.-Bend piping by machine or heat with blow lamp and bend by hand.-Join metal piping by soldering or thread cutting and screwing.-Join plastic piping by cementing or fusing by hot air welding.-Form piping from sheet metal.-Check pipe preparations, tack welded joints, alignment, straightness and dimensional accuracy.-Install prefabricated sections on site.-Trained and operate trade required machinery.-Trained and operate overhead cranes including basic slinging in a safe manner.-Carryout Fire watch/Stand By duties.-Adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.-Use Oxy/fuel hand burning/heating/cutting equipment.-Use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements including all relevant training/certification requirements- Follow safety protocols and adhere to building codes and regulations.
Experience:
– Proven experience as a Pipefitter or in a similar role.- Knowledge of pipefitting techniques, materials, and tools.- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.- Good communication and teamwork skills.
