An exciting opportunity has arisen within Moorfields for an experienced and exceptional individual to work alongside the multi-disciplinary senior management team.
It is an exciting time for diagnostic and imaging services with service redesign and transformation work both, internally and externally. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent problem solving skills as well as coping with conflicting pressures.
The post holder will be expected to lead the transformational development of diagnostics and imaging in particular the continued development of diagnostic hubs and digital first pathways working with the professional leads, as well operationally leading performance across Ophthalmic Imaging, Ultrasound, Electro-diagnostics and Radiology. The successful candidate will support the Trust in maintaining its CQC rating, providing excellent operational leadership to deliver high quality ophthalmology services to our patients.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to be able to establish their credibility at all levels internally and externally, and be able to quickly build relationships within their own team and the wider organisation.
The Operations Lead has a wide range of responsibilities for ensuring the effective development and operation of the diagnostic and imaging services. The post holder is responsible for effective operational management, expertise and support for a number of key areas within the organisation ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe and effective patient services within the resources available.
The post holder will provide operational support to the services to deliver the Trust’s overall strategy and objectives. This will include playing a key role in identifying opportunities for clinical and administrative innovation and modernisation, particularly regarding innovative patient pathways such as diagnostic hubs.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD
This post will be subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
During the probationary period, your suitability for continued employment will be assessed and provided a satisfactory standard is achieved and maintained, your employment will be confirmed. The probationary period may be extended Or your employment terminated either during or at the end of probation, in line with the trust Probationary Policy. For the duration of the probation period, the notice period will be in line with contractual obligations on either side.

Line management responsibility for multiple Heads of Department.
Support the Heads of Department to monitor key workforce indicators (sickness absence, turnover etc.) that affect productivity and support line managers to work with the Human Resources (HR) team to address issues of concern.
Promote a high performance culture by holding people to account within the Division.
To provide advice and guidance for staff who line-manage other staff within the Directorate and to become directly involved as and when required.
To deal with difficult staff situations including performance management where needed.
To support Trust wide Staff relations issues such as hear appeal hearings,
lead investigations for other services etc.
To provide leadership in times of distress for both staff and patients when called upon.
Analyse current and future service activity and establish the workforce required to ensure the appropriate staffing skill/band mix for the delivery of service plans.
To undertake individual performance appraisals for directly line-managed staff within the Directorate and to ensure appropriate training plans are developed.
To be responsible for ensuring that all staff are compliant with mandatory training requirements.
To promote high level leadership skills by demonstrating attributes consistent with the leadership qualities framework, and to promote and support the development of these skills within the general management team.
