Salary: £10.50 – £12.25 per hour (equating to £24,570 to £28,665)
Gratuities: £130 – £230 per month
Accommodation: subsidised accommodation available on site or in local town
Staff transport: provided free between staff houses and hotel
Hours: 45 per week.

We’re looking for a friendly, efficient Night Porter to join the Gilpin team.
THE ROLE OF NIGHT PORTER
The Front of House team at The Gilpin Hotel & Lake House play an integral part of the Guest Experience, from greeting all guests as they step from their vehicles, to waving them off at the end of their stay – and everything in between to ensure their stay is the most enjoyable and wonderful experience they have ever received in a 5* hotel. No job or request is too small for this team and for this busy group, the teamwork required is undeniable and unique. This special role looks after the hotel, restaurants and guests overnight from 22:00 until 07:30 ensuring that all procedures are adhered to and that guests are looked after during the small hours.
A Night Porter

Ensures the safety of guests at Gilpin and Lake house throughout the night by adhering to all health and safety procedures and requirements.
Ensures corridors, fire exits are kept clear at all times and fire protection systems are in place.
Performs security checks from Gilpin Spice, the ground floor and all the grounds of the hotel, removing any room service trays if left outside the rooms.
Lays up tables for breakfast in the restaurant according to the table plan and room service trays from the orders on the Gilpin App.
Welcomes late check in and early check outs efficiently, helping with luggage.
Ensures that wake up calls are made promptly.
Deals with all guest requests and issues.
Carries the night phone at all times ensuring that phones are answered promptly and requests dealt with efficiently and effectively.
Deals with guest complaints in a friendly and efficient manner ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.
Maintains lighting in the public areas, report to the maintenance team if unable to fix.
Checks that dinner and wines have been charged on the guests’ bills.
Assists with late night duties after a function at the Lakehouse.
Checks the Guests bills on Rezlynx before the early reception shift starts, checking that bills are correct and charges have been made correctly.
Carries out Night Porter handover – highlighting anything urgent during the shift that needs to be passed on to HODs for action.
Checks continuously Loop and actions any guest requests via the Gilpin App throughout the shift.
Ensures that the Reception desk and back office Reception is kept tidy and clean at all times.
Receives any newspapers delivered in the morning and distributes accordingly to the guests.
Hands over any packages and post that is to be sent from the Gilpin Hotel to (Bowness Post office) on collection in the AM.
Ensures that the staff canteen is left clean, tidy and secure.
Demonstrates a full understanding of the Night Management and Porters SOPs and emergency procedures.
Understands and has a full working knowledge of all fire alarms and fire fighting equipment and is competent in their use.
Shows strong knowledge of health & safety procedures and is able to advise when required.
Ensures that the emergency night bag is always fully stocked with appropriate equipment.

Skills and experience required for the role

Previous experience in a similar level of establishment is preferred.
Exceptional customer service skills and good listening skills.
Has the ability to be discrete and respectful.
Is trained in fire safety and is a nominated and trained Fire Warden
Ability to respond to emergency situations calmly, making decisions quickly and effectively to resolve issues.
Ability to work quietly and efficiently in a busy environment.
Excellent computer skills and a knowledge of Microsoft programmes, ie Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Google docs.
Strong written, verbal and numerical skills.
Excellent organisational skills and ability to use own initiative.
Experience with the booking system, Reslynx is useful.
Great teamwork and communication skills with a strong sense of need for achievement of goals and success.
High level of motivation, determination and commitment.
Flexibility to work nights, weekend nights and holidays, as per the demands of the business.
Has the ability to handle complaints and deal promptly with any issues, using tact, diplomacy and with a smile.
Is adaptable to rota changes and is able to respond to urgent issues in a helpful and calm manner, prioritising guest and staff welfare in the first instance.
