Position Overview

Vantage is looking for a Manager, Security Engineering, EMEA, to be part of the design production team that leads design and engineering for the largest individual cost center within the development process and become engaged in all technical aspects. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of highly skilled security design engineers focused on data center critical infrastructure systems, accountable for physical security system designs including campus and building protection, fence and hostile vehicle mitigation, access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, submittal review, design document review, oversight of execution, participation in site inspections and transition to operations. You will be responsible for the career development of all engineers reporting to you, the recruitment of new members for the team, and the training and onboarding of all EMEA employees to the security standards of Vantage.

You will also be the point of contact for the rest of the departments’ leaders involved in the program development (Sales, Solutions Engineering, New Site Development, Finance, Legal, HR, Innovation, Design Management, Sustainability, MEP, CSA, Development Delivery, Automation & Controls, IT, and Operations). Regular collaboration and coordination are required with the other managers and directors of the other Vantage development regions to ensure consistency of product delivery.

You and your team will be presented with complex security engineering challenges and be asked to bring them to resolution with all the tools at your disposal. You and your team will ensure existing standards are executed and enhanced for each project. You and the team will evaluate designs and provide engineering analysis to balance CAPEX and OPEX costs.

You and the team will be required to participate, contribute and lead cross-functional initiatives to shape and drive the company long term vision

Essential Job Functions

Build, lead, scale and manage a Security Design Engineering team focused in the EMEA regions.

Coach and help develop the career path of your direct reports

Develop and lead updates to the design standards and specifications for consistency and maximum system reliability

Lead all aspects of security engineering design including conceptual design, basis of design, scope of work, development of construction documents

Lead client interfacing Security Engineering technical meetings, providing support to the Solutions Engineering team

Contribute, participate and lead cross functional company initiatives to drive the long term vision

Develop and lead updates to the design, procurement, and construction processes

Oversee review process of engineering studies of all types

Visit development regions for strategy development meetings

Duties

Conduct weekly meetings with direct reports to provide feedback and assist in addressing concerns and removing roadblocks

Help develop and guide career path plans for direct reports

Partner up with Human Resources in the recruitment of appropriately skilled individuals to deliver the product required

Work with other managers in cross-functional efforts across the VDC EMEA organization

Provide department building assistance to brand new regions

Examine risks associated with projects and prioritize risks accordingly

Provide and review detailed workflows for change management activities

Conduct and lead value engineering analyses, and provide recommendations based on ROI and IRR analysis

Conduct and lead cross-functional initiatives to engage in the development of the corporate long term vision, driving to improve cost, speed to market, and product delivery quality

Travel to data center sites for building relationships with new development, construction, and Vantage partners as required

Respond on an as-needed basis to data center related emergencies

Engage with corporate user groups and stakeholders

Engage with the other internal management teams

Participate and contribute in product development process flow from idea to implementation led by the innovation engineering team to apply for and obtain patents for the company to retain its IP

Additional duties as assigned from time to time by executive management

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

8+ years of experience designing Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Alarm, Video Intercom, and Video Surveillance and Management Systems is required.

3+ years of experience managing numerous and complex, fast-paced, large-scale, enterprise-level security system design projects with multiple, overlapping deadlines and stakeholders is required.

Data Center design and/or installation experience is strongly preferred but not required.

Experience in EMEA construction markets is required;

Current Genetec Enterprise Design certification is preferred but not required.

Expertise with installation of Access Control, Intrusion Detection and Alarm, and Video Surveillance and Management Systems is preferred but not required.

In-depth, technical knowledge and experience with design and/or installation of IP networking, structured cabling, and electronic door hardware is preferred but not required.

Working knowledge of networking concepts (IP addresses, MAC addresses, etc.) is preferred but not required.

Experience with two-way radio systems is preferred but not required.

Travel is expected to be less than 25% but may be higher at times depending on various factors such as complexity and quantity of consecutive design projects.
