Department overview:
Treasury is an established function within the Finance division at Nomura. The department has regional teams in Japan, EMEA, AEJ and the US. In addition, Treasury has a team in Mumbai that provides management information and analytical support for the Global team.
Treasury operates across the three divisions of the Firm (Wholesale, Retail Brokerage and Asset Management) with responsibility for all aspects of unsecured funding and to manage liquidity and funding in accordance with board-mandated stress tests and in compliance with regulatory liquidity requirements.
The department is organised into the below functions with strong global orientation:
Funding execution of the firm’s unsecured financing activities and liquidity pool investment, together with currency management.
Regulatory Liquidity Reporting & Data responsible to ensure regulatory liquidity reporting is complete, accurate, and timely. Design, implement & maintain regulatory reporting control, governance, and escalation frameworks.
Regulatory Analytics & Compliance covers forecasting & management of compliance with liquidity metrics including ALCO / Board MIS reporting.
Planning & Analysis covers all aspects of liquidity risk management including; internal and regulatory stress testing, scenario analysis, variance explain, risk mitigation, ILAAP, Policy and framework reviews, new business, Contingency Funding Plan, business interaction, input into SWD and RRP from a Treasury perspective
Role description:
The individual will be member of the EMEA Planning & Analysis team, supporting both the development of the firm’s liquidity risk management framework, as well as ensuring explain and compliance with internal and regulatory liquidity metrics. The Liquidity management framework is applied on a Global basis and is used as the primary driver to determine the firm’s Funding Plan and associated Funds Transfer Pricing policy and approach. The firm is subject to EBA and PRA liquidity regulations locally, operating globally under JFSA standards.
Key objectives critical to success:
Daily commentary on liquidity drivers and trends, ensuring on-going compliance with risk appetite
Connecting the drivers of regulatory liquidity to the Firm’s funds transfer pricing policy
Develop and maintain liquidity management policies ensuring that risk is recognized, measured and managed across the firm on a sustainable basis and in line with appetite
Support the development of stress testing models across global markets and investment banking products, including application of quantitative and qualitative techniques
Support the development and business understanding of Funds Transfer Pricing policies, ensuring that financial costs are incorporated into performance evaluation and commercial decision-making
Development and management of business level liquidity controls
New Product liquidity impact modelling
Scenario analysis and modelling for LCR & NSFR
Close partnership with liquidity reporting& data team (on and off-shore), including potentially working on liquidity reporting initiatives
Involvement in UAT and impact analysis assessment of policy changes
Contribute to the annual attestation of regulatory liquidity interpretation
Support for annual regulatory deliverables including; ILAAP, RRP and SWD
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:
Bachelor degree.
Professional qualification in a relevant financial field or strong depth of experience in the financial services industry within a liquidity team
Technical capital markets business skills, ideally with knowledge of secured financing and derivatives transactions.
Deep technical knowledge of the EBA/PRA regulatory liquidity framework
Knowledge of liquidity best practices
Control mindset
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to influence all levels of seniority within Finance and the Global Markets division.
