We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Technical Operative.
Hours:
This is a full-time position working on a 4-shift pattern 4 days on (06:00-18:00) followed by 4 days off & 4 nights on (18:00-06:00) followed by 4 days off.

Higher Kings Mill is a large paper manufacturer and all our finished products, that are made predominantly for the filing and educational market, are 100% recyclable and made using recycled materials that are sustainably sourced.
Situated in Cullompton (EX15 1QJ), the company has a long standing tradition and appreciation for long term business relations with our customers, and has been in operation since 1757.
The Role:
As an Environmental Technical Operative you will possess a wide array of skills, and suitable knowledge, required to manage and optimise the running of processes in relation to maintaining environmental / technical plant and equipment.
Supplementary training can be provided to perform these activities as necessary, which include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the delivery of bespoke tasks to support the wider operations of Higher Kings Mill paper production process. Including, but not limited to:
Cutting centres for paper reels
Using vehicles to move waste materials / sort waste materials
Decanting/Moving chemicals from storage area to usage point
Cleaning / pressure washing yard & plant
Using cooker to make bulk starch / assist with starch delivery
Site security when shut including fire watch
Operation, maintenance, optimisation and continual monitoring of aerobic water processing facility.
Monitoring, measurement, calibration & testing of equipment and plant including use of organic/in-organic chemistry to determine analysis states and inform operational decision making.
Assist the senior Environmental & Technical staff to complete their designated tasks.

The Person:
To be considered, you will need:

A demonstrable competence in and enthusiasm for autonomous thinking leading to unsupervised task completion
Ability to use own initiative to solve complex inter-dependencies in conflicting work priorities
Self scheduling and time management
A high degree of numeracy (data competence) and literacy to record information accurately as part of statutory testing/reporting requirements
To hold yourself accountable to a high standard of accuracy and professionalism at all times, due to operation within a strict compliance and regulatory environment
An ability to learn and adapt to constantly changing inputs/output parameters
Vehicle licenses considered highly beneficial, particularly fork lift truck (counterbalance), bale clamping attachment, telehandler (telescopic loader)
High levels of physical fitness
The ability to work on your own initiative and within a team
Good communication skills
Excellent problem-solving abilities
Reliable and dependable
