Job description

We are now looking for a Control Room Operator to work for Mobiie (a joint venture company formed between Arcadis IBI Group and Egis), delivering the Traffic Scotland service 24/7 on behalf of Transport Scotland. This role is based at the flagship Traffic Scotland National Control Centre at South Queensferry, with spectacular views of the Firth of Forth and the 3 famous Forth Bridges.

Responsibilities:

Monitoring Scottish trunk road network using CCTV and Intelligent Transportation Systems
Responding to and managing planned and unplanned incidents and events throughout Scotland
Controlling the network using variable message signs, motorway signal units and traffic signals
Liaising with operational partners such as Police Scotland, road maintenance companies, Traffic Scotland roadside engineers, Transport Scotland and the Met Office
Communicating traffic and travel information via our website, social media and stakeholder reports

Shifts:

Full-time (40 hrs)
Dayshift and Nightshift (2 days > 2 nights > 4 days off)

Schedule:

12-hour shift
Day shift
Night shift
Weekend availability

Profile

Standard Grade, GCSE, or equivalent
Customer service, control room or operational role: 2 years experience
Good standard of written work
Good communication skills
Good geographical knowledge of Scotland and its Trunk Road/Motorway Network
Applicants within daily commute of South Queensferry are preferable
