About The Role
We are currently looking to recruit a new Business Intelligence Solution Architect to our growing Data & Business Intelligence team. We are continuing to experience an exciting period of company growth, so it is a great time to join our team at our friendly Service Centre, where you will play a key role in helping to provide an outstanding level of customer and employee experience.
The BI Solution Architect plays a crucial role in designing and implementing scalable Business Intelligence (BI) solutions that align with business requirements. They work closely with stakeholders to translate business needs into innovative BI solutions, ensuring seamless integration, data modelling and performance optimisation. By staying updated with emerging trends and technologies, they drive the adoption of best practices and mentor the BI development team. Overall, the BI Solution Architect enables data-driven decision-making, enhances business performance, and maximises the value derived from data assets by delivering effective BI solutions.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to align technical solutions with strategic goals.
Design and develop the architecture and infrastructure of the BI system, including data warehouse structure, data integration processes and data modelling techniques.
Implement and optimise Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes for integrating data from various sources into the data warehouse.
Establish data governance policies, data protection mechanisms, and data retention policies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimise database queries for improved system efficiency.
Collaborate with stakeholders, gather requirements, and provide technical guidance to ensure the BI system meets the organisation’s needs.
Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in business intelligence to recommend enhancements and optimise system functionality.
Mentor and provide leadership to team members, offering guidance, support, and opportunities for professional growth.
Create development plans for team members, assess their performance, and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Participate in resource allocation and project management activities, ensuring projects are delivered within timelines and budgets.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:
Strong understanding of Data Warehouse methodology and design, preferably with experience in Kimball methodology.
Proficient in Transact SQL (T-SQL) and possess a deep knowledge of relational databases.
Strong understanding of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
Solid grasp of Analysis Services and Power BI Tabular Models, including proficiency in DAX expressions, measures, and KPIs. Familiarity with tools like Tabular Editor would be advantageous.
Good understanding of data security principles and experience in implementing methodologies such as Row Level Security.
Experience with source control systems, particularly Git, for managing code versioning, branching, and collaborative development.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Experience working within medium to large-sized BI Development Teams.
Highly self-motivated with the ability to independently manage workloads and deliver changes to the BI Solution within agreed timescales.
Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex issues and identify effective solutions.
SQL Master Data Services (MDS) experience: Proficiency in using SQL Master Data Services desirable.
