Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in;

Highways Operations, carry out works and manage a team of operatives and supply chain partners to effectively deliver highway maintenance services including but not limited to; reactive maintenance to modular and asphalt footways and carriageway, street furniture, street lighting including installations, tree planting and maintenance, drainage, minor structure repairs and maintenance, winter maintenance and planned work

Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;

To plan, carry out works and manage a team of operatives to effectively deliver highways maintenance services including but not limited to; scheduled and reactive maintenance to modular and asphalt footways and carriageway, street furniture, street lighting, drainage and winter maintenance.
To have a Good knowledge of IEE wiring regs, with the ability to carry out all the various roles withing the Highways Electrical team and taking on the responsibilities involved in this role
Focus on health and safety of operatives, colleagues and the public
Prioritise tasks to avoid performance target failures
Focus on delivering projects within defined time and financial target.
Accurate submission of time reports including timesheets and / or papyrus
Take part in winter maintenance service
To actively foster a positive staff morale.
To willingly carry out any reasonable task as requested by a member of management

Formal qualifications required;

HEA Highway Electrician

NRSWA,

C&G Winter Service,

Banksman

Manual Handling

Abrasive Wheels

Emergency First Aid

Safe Dig

Current Driving License C,

HIAB

Traffic Management 12D

Skills required;

Good knowledge of IEE wiring regs

Ability to make decisions on-site

Be able to work on own initiative (unsupervised)

Ability to work as a team if required

Good ability for locating cable faults

Good at following detailed instructions

Experience required;

Steady work record with experience in a supervisory or highways maintenance role

Proven experience in highly skilled Highways Electrical operative role,

Experience leading multiple teams carrying out reactive maintenance to modular and asphalt footways and carriageway, street furniture, street lighting including installations, tree planting and maintenance, drainage, minor structure repairs and maintenance, winter maintenance and planned works.

Experience operating a HIAB, lorry loader,

Knowledge;

Highways Electrical works including installation, removal, fault finding and Inspection and testing

Personal qualities;

Enthusiastic, team player

Flexible in terms of hours worked and attitude.
