Detention Custody Officer – Immigration Services – Stansted Vehicle Base
Job Description
Working as a DCO within our team will provide you with the opportunity to maintain high standards of security and safety whilst promoting the welfare and decency of residents . This is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. As you gain experience within this challenging role, we’ll support you throughout your time to grow and develop. Your new role as DCO will be escorting residents to flights and involve looking after the welfare of residents in our holding facility all based at the airport.
Salary and Working Hours

£30,002.46 per annum (opportunity to earn an extra £2,500 during your first 2 years’ service with our Stand Out Bonus Scheme)
42 hours per week (plus overtime opportunities)
24 hour service, 365 days a year.
Rolling Shift pattern covering both days and nights. 4 days on 4 days off – 4 nights on , 4 nights off.

7 week training course on FULL PAY

We have training courses starting in November 2023 and every month in 2024 You must be available for all dates of this 7 week course.
You must be over 21 and have held a full manual car driving license for a year to be successful for this post.
Qualifications
Being a Detention Custody Officer demands the people’s skills, patience, resilience and professionalism to handle an ever-changing day. Our people come from a variety of backgrounds, you will have the communication and interpersonal skills to support colleagues, work together in teams and deliver an exceptional service to our residents. Previous experience of dealing with sensitively in a wide variety of people who have been agitated, confused or angry would be an advantage. Excellent problem-solving skills in addition to having the ability to keep calm under pressure will be key to developing your Care & Custody career.
Training
Once you have passed our selection and vetting process, you’ll begin your Care & Custody career completing a 7-week initial training course (ITC), continuing your development over the next 12 months with on the job mentoring and assessments to gain our accredited Level 3 apprenticeship in Detention and Custody.
