North West Film Archive Development Officer (Fixed term 3y, 0.6fte)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the North West Film Archive Team at Manchester Metropolitan University as NWFA Development Officer on a fixed-term, three year, 0.6 FTE basis.
The North West Film Archive is part of Man Met’s Library and Cultural Services, as well as the public regional film archive for the five counties of Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria, holding over 50,000 items of film and video reflecting the lives and experiences of people in the North West over the last 127 years. We provide access services to staff, students and researchers within MMU, as well as to commercial users and the general public.
We are passionate about being a truly inclusive regional film archive where all communities can see ourselves, our histories and lives represented on screen, and want to make a step change in the ways in which our collections represent the diversity of our audiences and users, making them more discoverable, inclusive, and representative.
We are embarking on a three-year programme to support these aims, which will include a mixture of collections-based work, partnership working (within Man Met and externally), community engagement, and audience facing activities. We are seeking an experienced and committed individual to co-ordinate this work.
The Role:
Working closely with the NWFA team, the successful candidate will co-ordinate the key strands of the project: from an audit and analysis of current holdings, to reviewing and updating cataloguing practices; from partnership building and community engagement, to scheduling and delivering collaborative workshops and film-screenings. This role is designed to help NWFA identify and begin to address gaps in representation, with particular focus on individuals and communities under-represented in culture and heritage including people who identify as Global Ethnic Majority, LGBTQIA+, and disabled and/or neuro-diverse.
About You:
As the NWFA Development Officer, the successful candidate will be expected to have experience of working with under-represented communities, groups, and individuals – either in the community or heritage sectors.
You will understand the issues surrounding diversity, inclusion, and representation in the heritage sector, and a proven track record in project co-ordination. If you have worked in an archive or library setting, all the better, but this isn’t essential, we’re more interested in your commitment to improving our services for everyone in the North West.
So, if you’re looking for a new challenge, with the opportunity to make a real difference in how the North West Film Archive serves our region, we’d love to hear from you.
How to apply:
Please upload a cover letter and your CV detailing how you meet the essential criteria in the attached Job Description.
